Ingredients

500 g beef mince
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp minced ginger
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
½ tsp turmeric
½–1 tsp chilli powder
200 g crushed tomato
100 g frozen peas
1 tsp salt
Fresh coriander to finish (optional)

Method

Soft-fry onion in oil until golden. Add garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
Add spices; stir 20 seconds.
Add mince and brown, breaking it up.
Stir in tomato and salt; simmer 15–20 minutes.
Add peas for the last 5 minutes. Finish with coriander.

Food safety

Cook mince until it is browned throughout with no pink remaining and steaming hot.
